2023 SUPERINTENDENT OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to Dr. Fred Williams (Dublin City Schools) for being named the State Superintendent of the Year for Georgia and one of the four finalists for the 2024 National Superintendent of the Year.
2023 GSBA GOVERNANCE TEAM OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to the Dodge County Board of Education for being named the 2023 GSBA Governance Team of the Year for small-size districts.
2023-2024 Superintendent's Advisory Council Members
9-26-2023 "State School Superintendent Richard Woods has selected 69 Georgia students to serve on his 2023-2024 Student Advisory Council. Throughout the year, these students will meet with Superintendent Woods to provide feedback on the impact of state policies in the classroom."
Congratulations to the following students who were chosen to represent the Heart of Georgia RESA districts. Sedarian Nelson (11th Grade) Bleckley High, Emma Douglas (10th Grade) Dodge High, Derick McRae (12th Grade) Dublin High, and Lindsey Vinson (11th Grade) Wheeler High. These students will be recognized at our annual Service Learning/Academic Awards Collaborative Event in April 2024.

HGRESA HOURS
The building is open from 8:00 - 4:00 on Monday through Thursday and open from 8:00 - 3:30 on Friday. If all schools are off, staff members can be reached via email. Please throw and fan kindness throughout this school year. It is suggested that you always call before visiting due to staff members being out of the office performing job duties. Thank you.

We partner with Griffin RESA to offer HGRESA cohorts when there are 20 participants. In the past, we have offered the following: Reading Endorsement, Dyslexia Endorsement, and Gifted Endorsement through this partnership. If you have a need, please let us know.

CONTEST INFORMATION:
For contest and/or banquet information, please go to www.hgresa.org and explore the top navigation bar. Information is sent to district-level contacts. The annual Service Learning/Academic Awards' Collaborative Event will take place on April 18th at the DuBose Porter Building in Dublin starting at 6:00. Please plan to arrive by 5:45. Tickets will stay at the same price as in past years: $10 per participant. Please email jbeck@hgresa.org for ticket orders. The deadline to purchase tickets is Tuesday, March 26th due to Spring holiday schedules. TICKET INFORMATION LINK If you don't want to wait in a long line, please bring your ticket. Thanks.
SUBSTITUTE TEACHER TRAINING:
On-demand substitute teacher training is available daily. Search for CODE 210. Out-of-area should register for CODE 210.1. (In-area cost is $35. Out-of-area cost is $75.) After registering, pay for the class with a money order or cashier's check ONLY, listen to the training, take notes, make 100 on the assessment, complete the evaluation form, and send the completer form to janishsparrow@gmail.com AND connieahowell@gmail.com, the participant will receive a certificate of completion via email. Local requirements must be completed before the participant can become a substitute. These requirements usually include such steps as being fingerprinted, getting board-approved, etc.
FINGERPRINTING:
HGRESA Member District Employees: To schedule a fingerprinting appointment, please contact Mr. Torrey English at tenglish@hgresa.org or dial 478.353.8693 ext. 2003. Please bring a signed form from the Board of Education office and photo identification.

The HGRESA staff members appreciate the support of the leaders and all other staff from the 10-member districts and partnering organizations. The HEART network "works" because of the mutual respect of all entities working toward a shared vision of always striving to Help, Guide, Reach, Extend, and Serve All. As we reflect on the past, those who are no longer with us are remembered and cherished. Professional friendships have been established in this HEART network that will last a lifetime. HGRESA staff members strive to Help, Guide, Reach, Extend, and Serve ALL. We encourage everyone to sign in when attending face-to-face events and complete the HGRESA electronic feedback form.
